HELP I'k in despeate need of a PSP pro!

i just got Photoshop 7.0 and wanted to try out to separate my lines form the nasty white BG!

the channels version with going to chanells load section, and then hit delet did not work because i wasend enabled to press delete, that the whole thing with the bucket tool, didn't work eighter cuz i have for no reason why no paintbucket tool.

im starting to climbe up my walls! cant anyone help me plz? you'd make me just soooooo happy.
